Transfer Costs
SCHEDULE OF APPROXIMATE TRANSFER COSTS
- These costs are in respect of the property purchased ONLY and do not include costs in respect of the registration of a mortgage bond if the purchaser requires a bond, nor do they take into account costs in connection with selling of another property (eg estate agents’ commission, bond cancellation costs).
- In addition to these costs, there is a variable charge for posts and petties as well, and for obtaining copies of necessary documents from the Deeds Office. It should be safe to estimate about R300,00, unless documents will have to be couriered or long distance telephone calls made or faxes sent, in which case it will be more.
- NB: The transfer duty reflected below is only in respect of natural persons. For artificial persons (companies, close corporations, trusts etc), the rate of transfer duty payable is 10% of the purchase price.
